HPV-induced cancers arise when viral sequences are integrated into the DNA of host cells. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer are associated with HPV infection, with two types present in 70% of all cases: HPV16 and HPV18. Studies have suggested that E7oncoproteins are necessary for this cancer because of their ability to inactivate cell-cycle regulatory proteins.
Cell Biolabs' HPV18E7Oncoprotein ELISA Kit specifically detects and quantifies the E7oncoprotein of the Human Papillomavirus Type 18 from cell lysates, tissue lysates, or cervical smears. Unknown samples are compared to a known HPV18E7 standard provided in the kit.
