Alpha 1 acid glycoprotein (a1AG), also known as orosomucoid, is an acute phase protein produced in liver cells and found at high levels in human plasma. a1AG levels can change in response to certain drugs, pregnancy, and some disease states such as HIV infection. It is a carrier for basic molecules, protease inhibitors, and steroids in the blood. a1AG has been recognized as one of four possible circulating biomarkers for estimating the five-year risk of all-cause mortality.
Our Human Alpha 1 Acid Glyprotein ELISA Kit is a sandwich ELISA for the detection of human a1AG in plasma, serum, lysates, and other biological fluids. Samples or standards are added to an anti-a1AG antibody coated plate followed by the addition of a biotinylated anti-human a1AG antibody. A streptavidin enzyme conjugate is then added for detection. The absorbance is read at 450nm and the level of a1AG in samples is determined based on the provided human a1AG standard curve.
