Ceruloplasmin (Cp) is a ferroxidase enzyme encoded by the CP gene in humans Cp is the main copper-transporting protein in the blood and also functions in iron metabolism. Low levels of Cp may be an indication of hepatic diease, copper deficiency, or an overdose of Vitamin C, while high levels may be an indication of pregnancy, copper toxicity, or a variety of diseases.
Our Human Ceruloplasmin ELISA Kit is a sandwich ELISA for the detection of human ceruloplasmin in plasma, serum, lysates, and other biological fluids. Samples or standards are added to an anti-ceruloplasmin antibody coated plate followed by the addition of a biotinylated anti-human ceruloplasmin antibody. A streptavidin enzyme conjugate is then added for detection. The absorbance is read at 450nm and the level of ceruloplasmin in samples is determined based on the provided human ceruloplasmin standard curve.
