Product Details

Phophorous in the form of free soluble phosphate is termed inorganic phosphate and is important in the regulation of many biological processes such as amino acid metabolism, protein activation, carbon metabolism, cell signaling, and energy transfer. It is also used in the biosynthesis of ATP, nucleic acids, phospholipids, and proteins.

Our Phosphate Assay Kit (Fluorometric) measures total inorganic phosphate present in lysates, solutions, food, or biological samples. This assay uses maltose phosphorylase to convert maltose to glucose, which requires inorganic phosphate. Glucose is then converted to D-gluconic acid by glucose oxidase, and the hydrogen peroxide created from this reaction is detected with a fluorometric probe. Phosphate levels are calculated based on a phosphate standard curve.
