FAQ: MEF Feeder Cells

Q: What is the mouse strain of your MEF cells?

A: Our MEF feeder cells are STO-based cell lines that were isolated from Sandos Inbred Mice (SIM).

Q: Do these cells require culturing on gelatin coated plates?

A: Culturing the MEF cells on gelatin coated plates is optional but it is typically not necessary.

Q: How long can these cells be cultured?

A: These cells are not primary MEF cell lines and therefore can be passaged for at least 6 weeks without seeing senescence or changes in their ability to support stem cell cultures.

Q: Can I make a stock from these cells?

A: Yes, these cells can be frozen down to keep a stock, similar to any other cell line.
