Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) catalyszes the transfer of an alpha amino group from aspartate to alpha-ketoglutarate, producing glutamate and oxaloacetic acid. This is an important reaction in amino acid biosynthesis and degradation. AST is often measured as a clinical marker of liver function in blood panel testing.

Our Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) Activity Assay Kit is a simple colorimetric assay that measures the activity of AST in a variety of sample types in a 96-well microtiter plate format. Each kit contains sufficient reagents for up to 100 assays, including blanks, standards, samples, and optional positive control.
