Endogenous miRNAs begin as long transcripts known as primary miRNAs (pri-miRNAs) which contain a hairpin structure containing the mature miRNA sequence. The hairpin structure, known as the miRNA precursor (pre-miRNA), is enzymatically excised and shuttled to the cytoplasm, where it is further cleaved to release the mature 18-24 bp miRNA.
We offer a large collection of premade microRNA expression vectors, each of which contains a sequence-specific pre-miRNA plus a selection marker.
If you don't see the microRNA you need, or if you're working with a species other than human or mouse, choose one of our miRNASelect™ Cloning and Expression Vectors and simply clone in your own precursor (pre-miRNA) sequence.
